Swedish Detective Drama ‘Bäckström’ on Acorn TV in April for U.S./Canada

A Swedish detective drama is coming to U.S. and Canadian audiences through Acorn TV next month. Based on Leif GW Persson’s bestselling novel, Kan man dö två gånger? (Can You Die Twice?), the drama will follow Evert Bäckström, an acclaimed homicide detective who is known for solving the most murder cases.

Let’s set the scene. A woman’s cranium with a bullet hole is found in the Swedish archipelago. A young boy scout named Edvin discovers it and brings it to Evert Bäckström. DNA results confirm that it belonged to a woman who was a victim of Thailand’s 2004 tsunami. Bäckström’s suddenly faced with one of the hardest cases he’s had to solve yet: Can you die twice? He wants to open a murder investigation but is met with a lot of resistance. Something’s he’s clearly not used to. Can they figure it out? There are a total of six episodes in the series.

Bäckström will be available to stream starting Monday, April 26th. Is it on your watchlist? Let us know in the comments below!
