WATCH: New The Crown season four teaser

The Crown S4Netflix has released another intriguing teaser for the upcoming season of The Crown, its prestige drama about the British royal family.

“Here is the stuff of which fairy tales are made,” the trailer begins as it gives a glimpse of a season that will almost definitely be far, far from a fairy tale. From the looks of the short clip, the fourth season will be focusing on the marriage between Prince Charles and Princess Diana and the turbulent times beyond that momentous event as well as the controversial term of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. Most of the main characters make an appearance in the teaser and The Crown looks just as sumptuous as ever in terms of production and as compelling as ever in terms of performances.

As previously reported, the series would be concluding after six seasons instead of the original five. The fourth season will cover the period from 1979 to 1990.

While the cast from the third season will be reprising their roles in season four, casting for the fifth season has already been announced with Imelda Staunton taking over from Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth, Jonathan Pryce taking over from Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip, and Lesley Manville taking over from Helena Bonham-Carter as Princess Margaret. The most recent casting announcement for season five was for Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana.

Here is the official synopsis of the season:

“As the 1970s are drawing to a close, Queen Elizabeth (Olivia Colman) and her family find themselves preoccupied with safeguarding the line of succession by securing an appropriate bride for Prince Charles (Josh O’Connor), who is still unmarried at 30.

While Charles’ romance with a young Lady Diana Spencer (Emma Corrin) provides a much-needed fairytale to unite the British people, as the transformation from teenager to Princess of Wales takes place, it is anything but a fairy tale for Diana.”

The Crown season four will debut on November 15 on Netflix.
