His Dark Materials premiere date revealed

His Dark Materials s2 posterHis Dark Materials season two will debut on HBO this November.

While the first season adapted The Golden Compass, the second will adapt the next book in the trilogy, The Subtle Knife, and will introduce new characters and new worlds.

The trailer for the second season was released last August, teasing a darker and more complex season with some intriguing new characters. A new poster for the show has been released, showing both Lyra and Will in the center of an intricate conspiracy. The tagline reads “New Worlds Await.”

Dafne Keen stars as Lyra Belacqua, the heroine of the piece, while Amir Wilson stars as Will Parry, a mysterious young man Lyra meets who is running away from a troubled past. They soon learn that their destinies are linked to finding Will’s father but as they continue their journey, they encounter many dangerous obstacles as a massive conflict brews around them. They will also have to contend with the threat of Mrs. Coulter (played by Ruth Wilson) who is determined to bring Lyra back home by any means necessary.

As previously reported, the new cast members will be Andrew Scott, Jade Anouka, Simone Kirby, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge as the voice of Scott’s daemon.

Here is the official synopsis:

“Season two of His Dark Materials begins after Lord Asriel has opened a bridge to a new world, and, distraught over the death of her best friend, Lyra follows Asriel into the unknown. In a strange and mysterious abandoned city, she meets Will, a boy from our world who is also running from a troubled past. Lyra and Will learn their destinies are tied to reuniting Will with his father but find their path is constantly thwarted as a war begins to brew around them. Meanwhile, Mrs. Coulter searches for Lyra, determined to bring her home by any means necessary.”
