WATCH: “Ultraluminary” music video from Over the Moon

Ultraluminary Over the MoonNetflix has released the full music video for “Ultraluminary” a K-pop inspired song performed by the Moon Goddess in the upcoming animated film, Over the Moon.

As previously reported, the film celebrates Chinese mythology as it centers of the adventure of a young girl named Fei Fei who builds a rocket to the moon in search of the mystical deity, Chang’e. As Fei Fei’s gets thrown into a crazy, colorful world, she encounters many magical creatures.

Chang’e herself (voiced by Hamilton‘s Phillipa Soo) turns out to be a kind of divine diva, performing this catchy new tune accompanied by gorgeous animation that gives some sense of the creativity and wonder of the film. Vibrant colors and vivid imagery abound in the short clip that also showcases the deity’s impressive powers as she welcomes characters to her realm of “Lunaria.” There are also some hints about the plot that are subtly revealed in the song even as it starts getting stuck in your head.

“Fueled with determination and a passion for science, a bright young girl builds a rocket ship to the moon to prove the existence of a legendary Moon Goddess. There she ends up on an unexpected quest, and discovers a whimsical land of fantastical creatures. Directed by animation legend Glen Keane, and produced by Gennie Rim and Peilin Chou, Over the Moon is an exhilarating musical adventure about moving forward, embracing the unexpected, and the power of imagination. The film stars Cathy Ang (Fei Fei), Phillipa Soo (Chang’e), Robert G. Chiu (Chin), Ken Jeong (Gobi), John Cho (Dad), Ruthie Ann Miles (Mom), Margaret Cho (Auntie Ling), Kimiko Glenn (Auntie Mei), Artt Butler (Uncle), and Sandra Oh (Mrs. Zhong).”

Over the Moon launches on October 23 on Netflix.
