WATCH: Emily in Paris trailer starring Lily Collins

Emily in Paris posterNetflix has released a chic teaser and poster for Emily in Paris, the upcoming series from Sex and the City creator Darren Star.

The series will follow the journey of an American marketing executive who moves to Paris to pursue her career and who, as expected, experiences culture clash in the City of Lights. From the short clip released it’s clear that the show will have a similar tone to the adventures of Carrie Bradshaw and her friends in New York City. There will clearly be glitz and glamor and romance and an idyllic portrayal of Paris as an exciting city full of fashionable people. How accurate a portrayal of the city it will be is another question but series like this are meant to be some form of escapism and fantasy anyway. Evidently it will not take the grittier and more realistic approach of another Netflix series released earlier this year, The Eddy.

Here is the official synopsis of the show:

“Lily Collins stars as Emily, an ambitious twenty-something marketing executive from Chicago, unexpectedly lands her dream job in Paris when her company acquires a French luxury marketing company — and she is tasked with revamping their social media strategy. Emily’s new life in Paris is filled with intoxicating adventures and surprising challenges as she juggles winning over her work colleagues, making friends, and navigating new romances.”

Joining Collins in the cast are Ashley Park (Mean Girls on Broadway, Tales of the City), Philippine Leroy Beaulieu (Call My Agent!), Lucas Bravo (Smart Ass), Samuel Arnold (Antony & Cleopatra), Camille Razat (The 15:17 to Paris), and Bruno Gouery (Doc Martin). Among the recurring cast is Kate Walsh (The Umbrella Academy), William Abadie (Resident Evil: Extinction), and Arnaud Viard (Clara et Moi).

The first season will consist of ten episodes.

Emily in Paris will premiere on October 2 on Netflix.
