SDCC 2020: His Dark Materials season 2 trailer

HBO released the trailer for the upcoming season of His Dark Materials during this year’s Comic Con at Home.

The television adaptation of Philip Pullman’s fantasy novels will continue with the second season. The first season tackled the events in the novel, The Golden Compass, while the second will focus on adapting the next book, The Subtle Knife.

During the Comic-Con@Home panel, the trailer and promotional images for the show were released. Returning cast members include Dafne Keen, Ruth Wilson, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ariyon Baker, and Amir Wilson. New cast members include Andrew Scott, Jade Anouka, and Simone Kirby.

Scott also revealed an exciting tidbit that will surely thrill fans of Fleabag. He confirmed that his character will have a daemon voiced by none other than Phoebe Waller-Bridge herself. Scott said:

“My daemon is going to be played by somebody who is very close to me in real life which is a young performer and writer called Phoebe Waller-Bridge. It’s all about companionship and friendship and loyalty and that’s what I feel about Phoebe in my real life. So, it’s wonderful that that’s happening.”

Here is the official synopsis of the series:

“In the second season of His Dark Materials, Lord Asriel (James McAvoy) has opened a bridge to a new world, and, distraught over the death of her best friend, Lyra (Dafne Keen) follows Asriel into the unknown. Lyra and Will learn their destinies are tied to reuniting Will with his father but find their path is constantly thwarted as a war begins to brew around them.
