SDCC 2020: Fear the Walking Dead season 6 trailer

Fear the Walking Dead SDCCAMC released the trailer for the upcoming season of Fear the Walking Dead which will be premiering in October.

During the Comic-con@Home panel for Fear the Walking Dead, the team behind the show shared some footage and details about the upcoming season as well as the premiere date. As previously reported, Fear the Walking Dead will be taking the slot usually reserved for season premieres of The Walking Dead as production on the eleventh season of the latter has been delayed to 2021.

The footage featured Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and Strand (Colman Domingo) being interrogated by Virginia (Colby Minifie), who is the leader of the community all the main characters found themselves reluctantly joining at the end of the fifth season.

Scott M. Gimple, head of The Walking Dead franchise, mentioned that this season will feature multiple time jumps as well as a new, anthology structure.

Co-showrunner Ian Goldberg elaborated on these changes, saying:

“The exciting thing is, I think you’re going very surprised by the way these characters react in these new circumstances…

Tonally, I think you can probably tell from watching the trailer – it is going be a darker season. No doubt about it because of the way these characters are going to be tested…

The other thing we’re really excited about is that we’re going to have an anthology structure to the episodes, where we get to deep dive into exactly what these characters are going through within Virginia’s communities, within the style of episodes we’ve done in the past that we’ve loved… You’re going to see a lot more of that kind of storytelling in season six.”

But, as with all shows at this time, the creative team is still facing a multitude of challenges in production for the show given the global pandemic. Hopefully, they will be able to film all episodes of the season.

Fear the Walking Dead season six will premiere on October 11 on AMC.
