Hulu’s ‘Love, Victor’ Gets a Heartfelt Trailer!

Ever since the Love, Simon sequel-turned-standalone series was announced, we were all anxiously awaiting any sort of news surrounding it! When it was revealed that it would be a brand new story within the same Simonverse and Creekwood High, with Nick Robinson serving as narrator to boot, we got even more excited! Would the series and cast have the same vibe as the lovable film and books? How would Victor’s story be told, etc.?

Well, a trailer has been released and some of those answers to our questions are starting to be unveiled!

First, the synopsis for Love, Victor is listed by Hulu as the following:

Set in the world of the 2018 groundbreaking film Love, Simon which was inspired by Becky Albertalli’s acclaimed novel, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, the series follows Victor, a new student at Creekwood High School on his own journey of self-discovery, facing challenges at home, adjusting to a new city and exploring his sexual orientation. When it all seems too much, he reaches out to Simon to help him navigate the ups and downs of high school.

In the trailer, we see Victor (Michael Cimino) get accustomed to moving from Texas to Georgia, learn the ropes at Creekwood High, and meet some new friends. And along the way, he just might find out a whole bunch about himself. That’s where our old friend, Simon Spier, comes in. Throughout the trailer, he crafts his first message to Simon and as we’ve been told, the pair have a rather mentor/mentee friendship. We see Victor’s friendship (or maybe more) bloom between Benji, Felix, and Mia. This writer was beaming during the entire trailer. It’s evident that this series has just as much heart in it as the film did.

And if you’re a huge fan of Love, Simon, like me, there are many nods to it that you’re bound to enjoy! Like the carnival and Ferris Wheel scene between Victor and Mia, and the set of Creekwood High. Even the coffee shop Victor and Benji work at could be a nod to the original? Simon and his friends were always getting their morning iced coffees after all. Another major surprise in a “blink and you’ll miss it” moment in the trailer: Bram! That’s right, looks like Keiynan Lonsdale will be making an appearance in at least an episode! Did anyone catch that during the trailer? This writer had to see author Becky Albertalli’s tweet to notice his appearance. With Nick and now Keiynan’s involvement in the show, is there anyone else from the film you’d love to see? I would personally love to see Vice Principal Worth and/or Ms. Albright wander around Creekwood High.

Love, Victor premieres on Hulu on June 19th!

What are you most looking forward to from the upcoming series?
