WATCH: The Old Guard trailer

Netflix has just released the trailer for The Old Guard, the upcoming action movie starring Charlize Theron.

The Old Guard is based on the graphic novel of the same name by Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernandez and the script was written by Rucka himself. The story centers on a group of immortal soldiers who have been secretly protecting our world for centuries. But when the group is exposed to the rest of the world, their new recruit Nile (played by Kiki Layne) resolves to save the team from those who seek to exploit them.

As reported by Collider, the film also stars Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli, Harry Melling, Van Veronica Ngo, Matthias Schoenaerts, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

The trailer already gives an action-packed and thrilling look into the film and given Theron’s extensive career in kicking ass, it’s easy to see how well she fits into this genre. Hopefully, the film also delves deeper into the fascinating mythology behind this mysterious group of soldiers and how they managed to stay in the shadows for so long.

“Led by a warrior named Andy (Charlize Theron), a covert group of tight-knit mercenaries with a mysterious inability to die have fought to protect the mortal world for centuries. But when the team is recruited to take on an emergency mission and their extraordinary abilities are suddenly exposed, it’s up to Andy and Nile (Kiki Layne), the newest soldier to join their ranks, to help the group eliminate the threat of those who seek to replicate and monetize their power by any means necessary.
