‘Motherland: Fort Salem’ Renewed for Season 2!

It finally happened, Switches! After the chanting, the Twitter trending (and making a Twitter Moment, I might add!), Freeform has answered our call and renewed Motherland: Fort Salem for a second season! Freeform has revealed their upcoming programming for 2021 and with that comes announcing new series in the works (Cruel Summer), various holiday programming, and of course season renewals, with both Motherland: Fort Salem and Everything’s Gonna Be Okay getting season 2 pick-ups!

Showrunner Eliot Laurence had this to say about the season renewal:

“I could not be more grateful for the chance to keep exploring the world of ‘Motherland: Fort Salem.’ Freeform has been such a fabulous home for us through the development process, production, post and marketing. I’m also blown away by the love we’ve gotten from our fans, whose excitement and passion played a massive part in this renewal. Thank you, witches!”

Not only did the show get renewed, but General Sarah Alder, portrayed by Lyne Renee, has been promoted to series regular! (This writer was questioning why she was only a guest star just last week!)

So thank the goddess for the renewal (not the mention the fandom’s continued support for this series) and we’ll be seeing more episodes of the Bellweather unit, Anacostia, Alder, and the Spree (that includes Scylla!) soon!

Motherland: Fort Salem‘s season one finale airs tonight at 8/9c on Freeform with season 2 to follow in 2021.
