WATCH: Leslie and Ron catch up on Parks and Recreation clip

Parks and Recreation Leslie and RonThe Parks and Recreation reunion special is almost upon us and NBC has gifted us with a sneak peek of the episode featuring Leslie Knope and Ron Swanson.

In the 35-second clip, Leslie (Amy Poehler) is on a video call with her friend, Ron (Nick Offerman), who confirms that he is in his cabin, where he has accumulated a twelve-year supply of venison jerky. He offers to ship some to her but she is reluctant to have her incisor teeth sharpened.

“When you travel, are you practicing social distancing?” Leslie asks.

“I’ve been practicing social distancing since I was four years old,” Ron replies. Classic Ron.

As previously reported, the Parks and Recreation special episode is a charity initiative “to raise money for Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund, which helps food banks secure the resources they need to serve the most vulnerable members of their communities at this difficult time. NBCUniversal and the show’s cast and producers have also pledged to match $500,000 in donations through May 21, while sponsors State Farm and Subaru will make donations of $150,000 each.”

Micke Schur spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the special and how he had not envisioned reuniting the cast but found a compelling enough reason with the current crisis. Schur said:

“The whole special is not about the disease…It’s about people coping with it and navigating their daily lives. The most important theme of the show is: Leslie Knope believes in friendship. She was loyal and friendly and put all her eggs in the power of friendship. It’s about her connecting with people and holding that group of characters together at a time when they’re unable to leave their homes. That’s the running theme.”

The Parks and Recreation charity special will air on NBC on April 30 at 8:30 pm EST.

If you can’t catch it live, it will also be streaming on NBC’s website and on Peacock TV beginning the following day, May 1st.
