Netflix to adapt Enola Holmes series starring Millie Bobby Brown

Netflix haMillie Bobby Brown Enola Holmess just sealed a deal to adapt the Enola Holmes book series starring Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things, Godzilla: King of the Monsters). The Enola Holmes Mysteries, written by Nancy Springer, is a series of six young adult detective novels featuring the younger sister of Sherlock Holmes.

According to a report on Deadline, the books will be adapted into a feature film by Jack Thorne (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) and directed by Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag.) Collider reports that the project will star Brown as the titular character with Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes, Sam Claflin as Mycroft Holmes, and Helena Bonham-Carter as their missing mother. Brown is also a producer on the project alongside her mother, Paige Brown, and Legendary’s Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, and Ali Mendes. The rest of the cast includes Adeel Akhtar, Fiona Shaw, Frances de la Tour, Louis Partridge, Burn Gorman, and Susan Wokoma.

Here is the synopsis of the film according to Deadline:

“Pic tells story of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes’ rebellious teen sister Enola, a gifted super-sleuth in her own right who often outsmarts her brilliant siblings. When her mother mysteriously disappears on her 16th birthday, Enola seeks help from her older brothers. But soon realizing they’re less interested in solving the case than in packing her off to finishing school, Enola does the only thing a smart, resourceful and fearless young 1880s woman can do… she runs away to London to find her. Meeting a cast of memorable characters along the way, Enola’s caught in the middle of a conspiracy that could alter the course of political history.”
