The Walking Dead: World Beyond release delayed

The Walking Dead: Our WorldAMC has delayed the release of the upcoming The Walking Dead spinoff, The Walking Dead: World Beyond.

The new series was supposed to premiere on April 12 but the network has just announced on their official Twitter account that the show will premiere “later this year. This will be the third series set in The Walking Dead universe not counting the upcoming Rick Grimes feature film. World Beyond would feature the next generation of characters who grew up in the zombie apocalypse.

According to a report by Deadline, though filming had already wrapped up for the series, the last episodes were still in post-production and were thus impacted by the current COVID-19 company closures. This is just the latest in the list of television programs that have been affected by the global health crisis. Many series that were meant to premiere in late 2020 have shut down production indefinitely.

Here is the official synopsis of the show:

The Walking Dead: World Beyond expands the universe of The Walking Dead, delving into a new mythology and story that follows the first generation raised in a surviving civilization of the post-apocalyptic world. Two sisters along with two friends leave a place of safety and comfort to brave dangers, known and unknown, living and undead on an important quest. Pursued by those who wish to protect them and those who wish to harm them, a tale of growing up and transformation unfurls across dangerous terrain, challenging everything they know about the world, themselves and each other. Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. But all of them will find the truths they seek.”

As previously reported, the show stars Aliyah Royale, Alexa Mansour, Annet Mahendru, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston, Nico Tortorella and Julia Ormond.
