The Last Kingdom season 4 release date revealed

Netflix has released more information about the upcoming season of the epic drama, The Last Kingdom.

In a rousing tweet gathering all the fans of the show, nicknamed “Arselings”, the streaming service announced that all episodes of the fourth season will be available on April 26.

The series is based on Bernard Cornwell’s Saxon Stories, a saga that recounts the life and adventures of the warrior Uhtred of Bebbanburg (played by Alexander Dreymon) and his struggle to reconcile his Briton birth and Danish upbringing. His path crosses with King Alfred the Great and soon the rebellious fighter finds himself embroiled in the king’s quest to unite the surrounding kingdoms while also on his own quest to reclaim Bebbanburg from his usurper uncle.

The Last Kingdom Uhtred and BeoccaSeason one was based on the first and second books, The Last Kingdom and The Pale Horseman. Season two then adapted the third and fourth novels, The Lords of the North and Sword Song. The third season had ten episodes and was based on the fifth and sixth books in the series, The Burning Land and Death of Kings. Season four has been confirmed to be an adaptation of The Pagan Lord and The Empty Throne.

The Last Kingdom S4According to a report by Den of Geek, many of the show’s main cast members will be returning for the fourth season. These include Dreymon himself, Ian Hart as Father Beocca, Toby Regbo as Aethelred, Emily Cox as Brida, Timothy Innes as King Edward, Eliza Butterworth as Aelswith, Mark Rowley as Finan, Millie Brady as Aethelflaed and Magnus Bruun as Cnut.

Some new cast members who will join the show are Stefanie Martini (Doctor Thorne) as Eadith, Jamie Blackley (The Halcyon) as Eardwulf, Ruby Hartley as Stiorra (Uhtred’s grown-up daughter), Helena Albright as Aelfwwynn (Aethelfed’s daughter), Máté Haumann as Cenric, Oscar Skagerberg as Bjorgulf, and Finn Elliot as a young Uhtred.
