WATCH: New Westworld season 3 teaser

HBO has released a new, behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming season of their hit sci-fi drama Westworld. The short clip entitled “Escape from Westworld” shows more details about the futuristic “real” world into which the hosts have escaped and where Dolores is determined to cause chaos. The production team and cast members share what is exciting about the new season.

“Westworld has always been a science fiction show,” says co-creator Jonathan Nolan in the teaser, “After two seasons investing in the hosts, in a third season, we needed to look at humanity, if the trajectory of technological development continues thirty years from now, what does that world look like?”

“We wanted to step through a portal and land in the future,” says co-creator Lisa Joy.

Production designer Howard Cummings also describes the show as “grounded in reality.” Locations Manager Mandi Dillin adds that the show shot in Singapore, Spain, and Los Angeles to create the metropolis skyline. From the glimpses we got of this new setting, it’s clear that the visual effects team has been very busy at work as well.

The cast members likewise give an idea of what the new dynamics of the season will be.

“This season is everything that they promised and more,” says Aaron Paul, a new addition to the cast.

“It’s a new landscape, everything is new,” adds Thandie Newton.

“The hosts become the guests in this new park,” says Jeffrey Wright.

“We’re going to another world,” says Evan Rachel Wood.

“It’s a new discovery that’s endlessly fascinating,” says Tessa Thompson.

As previously reported, returning cast members include Evan Rachel Wood as Dolores, Thandie Newton as Maeve, Ed Harris as the Man in Black, Jeffrey Wright as Bernard, Tessa Thompson as Charlotte, Luke Hemsworth as Stubbs, and Rodrigo Santoro as Hector Escaton.  New cast members will be Aaron Paul as Caleb, Vincent Cassel as Serac, Lena Waithe as Ash, Scott Mescudi as Francis, Marshawn Lynch as Giggles, John Gallagher Jr. as Liam, Michael Ealy as Jake, and Tommy Flanagan as Conells.

Westworld season three will premiere on March 15 on HBO.
