AMC has released key art and a teaser for the latest addition to The Walking Dead franchise, The Walking Dead: World Beyond. This will be a two-season limited series event that focuses on the new generation of young people who grew up in the wake of the zombie apocalypse.
Given the new perspective on the long-running drama, The Walking Dead: World Beyond might have much to add to the main show’s already expansive mythology as well as give the stage to characters much younger than those currently on The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead. It will be interesting to see the world in the eyes of characters who have never known anything else.
The show is co-created by Scott M. Gimple and Matt Negrete and executive produced by Gimple, Negrete, Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, David Alpert, and Brian Bockrath. According to a report by Collider, Jordan Vogt-Roberts (Kong: Skull Island) directed the pilot episode.
Here is the official synopsis of the new series:
“The Walking Dead: World Beyond expands the universe of The Walking Dead, delving into a new mythology and story that follows the first generation raised in a surviving civilization of the post-apocalyptic world. Two sisters along with two friends leave a place of safety and comfort to brave dangers, known and unknown, living and undead on an important quest. Pursued by those who wish to protect them and those who wish to harm them, a tale of growing up and transformation unfurls across dangerous terrain, challenging everything they know about the world, themselves and each other. Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. But all of them will find the truths they seek.”
The show stars Aliyah Royale, Alexa Mansour, Annet Mahendru, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston, Nico Tortorella and Julia Ormond.
Don’t miss The Walking Dead: World Beyond when it premieres on April 12 on AMC.
