ICYMI: ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’ Gets Renewed For Season 2

WHAT TEAM? WILDCATS! WHAT TEAM? WILDCATS! WHAT TEAM? WILDCATS! GET YOUR HEAD IN THE GAME! Start chanting that call and every proud High School Musical fan in the room should be able to answer you accordingly. It has been 11 years since we’ve been back to the halls of East High School and we can’t believe we’re returning to that franchise after the original cast graduated. Even though the first season hasn’t aired yet, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series has recently been picked up for a second season! You can watch the super adorable video of the cast finding out their journey hasn’t ended yet below. Their energy is contagious and we’re super excited for them. Congratulations, everyone!

In case you weren’t aware, the first season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series will be a 10-episode scripted series done in a mockumentary style very similar to shows like Fox’s Glee and NBC’s The Office. The premise of the show has the students of East High putting on their very own production of High School Musical (the first movie) for the very first time. Little do they know that it’s not as easy as think. But that’s what keeps it interesting.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series stars Joshua Bassett as Ricky, Matt Cornett as E.J., Julia Lester as Ashlyn, Katie Reinders as Miss Jenn, Olivia Rodrigo as Nini, Larry Saperstein as Big Red, Mark St. Cyr as Mr. Mazzara, Dara Renee as Kourtney, Frankie Rodriguez as Carlos, and Sofia Wylie as Gina. It will air on ABC, Disney Channel, and Freeform on November 8th and Disney+ on November 12th. Welcome back to East High, everyone!
