INTERVIEW: ‘Cobra Kai’ Cast and Writers Talk the Ultimate Dojo Showdown

Cobra Kai returns with a ten-episode second season that drops on April 24th through Youtube, and fans are eagerly anticipating the return of both old and new favorites. While the first season tackled the dynamics of Karate Kid twenty years later and made viewers fall in love with a second generation of martial artists, the stakes have been raised even higher for the second set of episodes. Not only is the fight personal now between Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso as their respective dojos cast, but John Kreese is back to haunt Johnny and perhaps he’s scarier than ever before. While Daniel opens the Miyagi-Do and recruits Robbie as well as potentially his daughter Sam, Johnny must face whether or not he has led his students – like Miguel and Eli – astray with his more vicious philosophy.

Will Johnny be able to protect his kids from the violent path he himself has sent them down? Will Miguel be able to make up for the way he treated Sam? Will Robbie’s new partnership with Daniel at Miyagi-Do Karate drive an even bigger wedge between him and his father, which is arguably the most important dynamic on the show? The cast and crew of Cobra Kai discussed those questions and many more, including the possibility of an extended universe alongside Jaden Smith, at Wondercon last week. Check out the videos below and let us know your thoughts on the upcoming season in the comments.
