George R.R. Martin’s Nightflyers is set to hit the small screen in a huge way. Syfy just announced that the highly anticipated horror/scifi thriller will have a multi-platform rollout this December. The season’s entire 10 episode run will debut across all Syfy platforms timed to the beginning of the linear telecast, which gives fans the freedom to watch the show wherever and whenever they want. You’ll be able to access the episodes through the Syfy channel, Syfy On Demand, online at Syfy’s website, and the Syfy app, which is good news in this age of streaming platforms.
Nightflyers aims to give its audience a totally immersive experience, so the first five episodes will air Sunday, December 2nd through Thursday, December 6th at 10/9c, with the latter half of the season set for Sunday, December 9th through Thursday, December 13th at 10/9c. Some more good news: there will be limited commercial interruptions across all platforms! On top of that, Syfy will have weekend marathons for fans to catch up on anything they might’ve missed.
If you don’t know anything about Nightflyers, it’s an adaptation of Martin’s horror science fiction drama, originally written as a novella. Martin also serves as executive producer on the series.
Set in the year 2093, Nightflyers follows a team of scientists aboard The Nightflyer, the most advanced ship ever built, as they embark on a journey to find other life forms. Their mission takes them to the edge of the solar system, and to the edge of insanity, as they realize true horror isn’t waiting for them in outer space—it’s already on their ship.
The Syfy series stars Eoin Macken, David Ajala, Gretchen Mol, Jodie Turner-Smith, Angus Sampson, Sam Strike, Maya Eshet, and Brían F. O’Byrne.
Nightflyers had a world premiere screening ahead of its December premiere at NYCC, where the show’s cast and creators gave a Q&A. You can get the details about the series’ panel here, and check out the brand new promo below.
