Banned Books Week: Celebrate Your Freedom To Read

Books have been challenged for as long as they have been around. Especially if they challenged the status quo at the time. Banned Books Week was created as a result of the 1982 Island Trees School District v. Pico Supreme Court case that ruled school officials can’t ban books from libraries based on their content. Some of your favorite books have probably been on this list at one point in their lifetime.

This week celebrates the entire literary community and is an advocacy program supported by the American Library Association (ALA). To learn more about the event, click here.
