Weeks of planning, social media activism, and fundraising have led to this historic fandom moment for fans of Timeless. The fact that the show has been cancelled and not invited to San Diego Comic Con hasn’t done anything to deter its loyal fan base. Not even close. The rallying cry of #SaveTimeless has topped the trending hashtags across Twitter for SDCC since the con began.
Thousands of tweets poured in as the anticipation for the helicopters to take flight built into an anxious frenzy. And the tweets kept coming while Timeless crashed the most popular fandom event of the summer with their “Mothership” and “Lifeboat” in tow. #SaveTimeless and #TimelessSDCC climbed up the charts, sitting comfortably in the top 10 worldwide trends. Yes, you read that right—Clockblockers got both hashtags trending not only in the United States, but worldwide.
Fans had to overcome a lot of obstacles to get here, waiting through hours of delay (inclement weather and technical difficulties were the cause, but we’ll blame Rittenhouse) for the helicopters to take flight. But when the banner finally unfurled over picturesque views of the shoreline, Timeless fans’ hard work, dedication, and patience paid off. In minutes, the buzz spread to all corners of social media as fans caught their first glimpse of the #SaveTimeless banner soaring over San Diego. Clockblockers gathered on the ground shared their videos and pictures and excitement while curious onlookers took notice of the sight. It was difficult not to miss, its message loud and clear against a perfectly blue sky.

Timeless fans know how to make history, that’s for sure. This is one of the largest efforts by a fandom we’ve seen, and their organization in such a short amount of time has been incredible to witness. With so much floating around about the issues of toxic fandom, it’s nice to see an outpouring of love and an unprecedented show of teamwork from people across the globe. Clockblockers are a force to be reckoned with. Even if the outcome of the #SaveTimeless campaign fails to get the show picked up or resolved (though we’re all keeping our fingers crossed!), they should certainly be proud of what they’ve accomplished together. There’s a lot of passion for this show, and hopefully someone recognizes that and gives Timeless the chance it rightly deserves.
The cast and crew and writers of Timeless have also taken note of the fandom’s grand gesture, tuning into the livestream to watch the banner fly. Malcolm Barrett, our favorite Hero in a Hoodie, even showed up to meet the Clockblockers gathered outside!

With so much publicity swirling around this crowdfunded, fan-organized event, we hope Timeless doesn’t languish in cancellation hell forever. But for now, this feels like an incredible victory for the Time Team.

I love this show. I only wish I could do more to save it. Tweets and a bit of cash doesn’t make even close to paying back the gift this show is to me. #savetimeless

Timeless is one of a very few series that has quality, originality, talent, education and popularity all rolled into one timeless series. This series deserves renewal now and for years to come.
