‘Siren’ Renewed For Season 2!

Expect to see more of your favorite mermaid, Ryn, in 2019!

Earlier this week at Freeform’s 2018 Upfronts, we learned of many upcoming series, movies, and specials for the channel to occur in the 2018-2019 season. On top of all that, it was also announced that Siren was renewed for a second season!

This writer couldn’t be happier about the news! I’ve been wanting to see a mermaid series of this scale (pun not intended) depicted for years! And now that we finally have a show like SirenI didn’t want it taken away from me.

I guess the Freeform executives felt the same! The 2 hour series premiere of the mermaid drama was already a success – 1.54 million total viewers, earning the cable channel’s highest viewer count of a series premiere since Shadowhunters in 2016! The series overall has gained attention as well, placing the #1 spot for new cable drama with young women (18-34 and 12-34).

Not only are we getting a second season, the season itself will be extended to 16 episodes! With that number, I’m curious how that’ll be aired – eight episodes split in two different arcs perhaps?

The Siren season one finale airs Thursday May 24th at 8/7c on Freeform, with the second season to premiere in 2019.

What do you hope to see happen in the second season? I’d love to see them continue to dive into mermaid mythology, Ryn adapting to Bristol Cove, exploring her relationships with Maddie and Ben, a chance to learn more about Helen and her mermaid DNA, and so much more!
