WATCH: The first teaser for American Gods season 2

American Gods s2The first teaser for the second season of American Gods has been released along with a photo of the cast.

The next eight episodes are finally in production. Fans were worried about the state of the Neil Gaiman adaptation since last November, showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green left the series. Fortunately, last February, Jesse Alexander (LOST, Heroes, Hannibal) was named as the new showrunner and show is back on track.

Neil Gaiman himself just tweeted the video teaser which shows him and star, Ricky Whittle, talking about the new season. The short clip shows Gaiman and the main cast at a pivotal spot of the novel, The House of the Rock. Gaiman says:

American Gods is coming back for a new season and we have just started production. Things are gonna get darker, things are gonna get more dangerous. American Gods is coming back to Starz.”

Speaking to Deadline, Gaiman also expressed his excitement about the next season of the show:

“The first season was all about getting to the House on the Rock…It’s amazing to see everyone back, and to be entering the next stage of the story with the best bunch of actors around, along with some inspired filmmakers.”

According to Collider, the returning cast will include Whittle as Shadow Moon as well as Ian McShane (Deadwood) as Mr. Wednesday, Emily Browning (Sucker Punch) as Laura Moon, Pablo Schreiber (Orange is the New Black) as Mad Sweeney, Orlando Jones (Sleepy Hollow) as Mr. Nancy, Yetide Badaki (Aquarius) as Bilquis, Bruce Langley (Deadly Waters) as Technical Boy, Crispin Glover (Back to the Future) as Mr. World, Cloris Leachman (Raising Hope) as Zorya Vechernyaya, Peter Stormare (Fargo) as Czernobog, Mousa Kraish (Superbad) as The Jinn, Omid Abtahi (Argo) as Salim, Chris Obi (Snow White and the Huntsman) as Anubis, and Demore Barnes (Waco) as Mr. Ibis.

American Gods season 2 will air in 2019 on Starz.
