Wishlist for Infinity War and Avengers 4

With Infinity War releasing at the end of the week, it feels like the end of all things is nearly upon us. As with any story this sprawling, many of us have loose threads we want to see tied up, wishes we’d love to have realized, and head canons we jokingly (or seriously) wish were real. Without further ado, here’s what each of our Marvel-inclined staff members would like from Infinity War or Avengers 4.

Theories on what’s happening:

Valerie:

  • I actually do kinda want to see Thanos win, only for Avengers 4 to be a struggling and small Avengers team using the Time Gem or Scarlet Witch’s powers to bring some of the team back out of time.
  • The Soul Gem not to be hiding on Earth.
  • Steve to die… only for the body to decay and reveal at some point he was replaced by a Skrull. Then we can get a Bucky!Cap/Black Widow/Hawkeye/Falcon spy thriller in the next few years where they’re trying to find the REAL Steve Rogers (and Chris Evans gets the break he wants).

Tatiana:

  • I’m jumping onboard the “everyone dies, but…” train, except Infinity War can’t just end with everyone’s death. I think we will get a glimpse of a Thanos-ruled universe in the final scene, followed by the moment where Steven or Wanda declares, “We have to go back, Kate!” (Are Lost references outdated yet?)
  • I’m also all for a Skrull Captain America so long as there’s a guarantee Chris will come back eventually. Otherwise, I’m going full cheese with Peggy Carter being the one to welcome Steve to hero heaven. But no kisses for him, because she’s with Sousa even in the afterlife!

Moments we’ve waited years for and characters we want more of:

Valerie: 

  • After 8 years of build up of their friendship, and Steve’s actions in Civil War, there had better be some meaningful interaction between Steve and Bucky before Steve inevitably dies in this film, or Avengers 4.
  • Some great Doctor Strange & Spider-Man action. Their relationship is important in the comics, it’s about time we got to see some of that on screen.
  • Valkyrie being awesome. She has to be in the movie at least for a little bit, right? We know it starts with what happened at the end of Ragnarok…
  • Okoye just generally being annoyed with all the newcomers, and the new threat to Wakanda.

Tatiana:

  • Okoye was my stealth fave in Black Panther, so I hope she gets some standout moments for sure. And, honestly, more Wakanda in general – Black Panther got us hyped.
  • For Gamora and Nebula to resolve their daddy issues with Thanos, preferably ending with Gamora still alive and Nebula dying by or while killing him. Not that Nebula has to die, just that this is how she should go out if she must.

Angela:

  • I want Tony to actually accept responsibility for his actions (especially for dragging a minor kid – Peter – into the events of Civil War), in way that still isn’t kind of making it all about himself.
  • If Mordo shows up, I’d kind of like to see his motivations fleshed out more. He kind of had a point – not to the point of killing EVERYONE, mind you – but maybe it’s just my feelings on Chiwetel Ejiofor over Benedict Cumberbatch, but I kind of want to learn more about him than about Doctor Strange.

Ships, both yay and nay:

Andrew:

  • I want Pepper Potts to dump Tony and then for Tony to die unheroically sometime after.

Valerie:

  • In counter to Andrew’s comment, I actually want to see something to indicate Tony & Pepper have finally gotten married. You know, before Tony inevitably dies in Avengers 4. 
  • NGL, I ship Shuri/Peter, so let’s see some nerd flirting.

Tatiana:

  • FIGHT ME, ANDREW! I definitely want Pepper and Tony get married before he dies heroically.
  • Other than that I just want to see Peter and Gamora be cute. And to at least get a status update on Nakia and T’challa, if she’s not going to be in the movies.

Characters doing other miscellaneous fun stuff:

Valerie:

  • Rocket about Bucky: “I need that guy’s arm.” If that joke doesn’t pay off in a way we’ve all been expecting for years, there’s going to be some serious disappointment.
  • I want to see the famous moment out of the comics where Thanos just snaps his fingers, and half the universe is gone.
  • Shuri proving she’s smarter than Banner, Tony, and Peter… combined. 

Tatiana:

  • Yes! Shuri wowing Peter and Tony with her tech genius.
  • Also want to see Bucky bringing up some of the new stuff Shuri and Wakanda have taught him. Avengers had some fun with Cap’s fish-out-of-water syndrome, so the same can happen with Bucky now.

Andrew:

  • Since Thor’s getting a new hammer, it would be nice if he got a cool helmet too and kept it on.
  • Also, we should actually hear Cap say the words “Avengers Assemble.”
