Watch the full trailer for Westworld season 2

Westworld S2 posterHBO has released the full trailer for the upcoming season of its sci-fi drama, Westworld, and it looks like it will be a truly action-packed affair.

From what we see in the trailer, the season picks up where the first left off, with the robotic hosts of the park having regained consciousness and now thirsting for revenge against all the humans who had treated them badly. Some characters who feature prominently in the trailer include Dolores (played by Evan Rachel Wood), Maeve (played by Thandie Newton), Bernard (Jeffrey Wright), and the Man in Black (Ed Harris.)

“Here we are, the kind that will never know death,” Dolores says solemnly in the trailer, “and yet we’re fighting to live. There’s beauty in what we are.”

A short teaser was previously released during the SuperBowl. The trailer doesn’t reveal too much about the plot, which is just as well, since the viewers have taken great pride and enjoyment in speculating on the show’s many twists and turns and multiple timelines.

The trailer also features a new piano cover of Nirvana’s “Heart-Shaped Box,” arranged by composer Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones). We also get glimpses of that other park that Maeve discovered at the end of last season, one that has been confirmed to be called “Shogun World.” This new park was previously guessed to be called “Samurai World” because of the “SW” logo in the background and the feudal-era Japan costumes and displays. It looks like Maeve will be paying a visit to this new park in the next season, judging by her appearance in the trailer dressed in a kimono. More hosts will be liberated so more chaos is sure to ensue.

The official synopsis describes Westworld as “a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin.”

Westworld season two will premiere on April 22 on HBO.
