Guest stars return in new clip from A Series of Unfortunate Events

A Series of Unfortunate Events VFDWe’re only hours away from the premiere of the second season of A Series of Unfortunate Events but before we bear witness to more of the three Baudelaire orphans’ suffering, Netflix has given us a treat in the form of an exclusive clip at events prior to the series.

In the delightful new clip, we are treated to a lavish party at the VFD headquarters. It’s a masquerade in many senses as an important secret message is passed from member to member. We see characters from the first series, notably deceased ones, back when they were still alive and well, which only shows how far the story has progressed.

These include: Dr. Montgomery Montgomery (played by Aasif Mandvi), gleefully sharing some trivia about snakes; Aunt Josephine (played by Alfre Woodard), getting excited about proper grammar; and Dr. Georgina Orwell (played by Catherine O’Hara), decidedly “not” hypnotizing anyone. Other notable appearances are from the very enterprising waiter (played by Larry Breen and last seen at the Anxious Clown restaurant), Jacquelyn, and Gustav, all members of this mysterious secret society.

We also have a brief clip of Lemony Snicket (played by Patrick Warburton) as he is plagued by a “uneasy sense of creeping dread” while a character from the new season (played by Nathan Fillion) reassures him.

The clip ends abruptly as Snicket calls out to a beautiful woman dressed as a dragonfly, addressing her as Beatrice.

A wonderful taste of the excitement ahead. And we don’t have too long to wait before we find out what other misfortunes will befall the three Baudelaire siblings as the next five books of the series have been adapted.

Don’t miss A Series of Unfortunate Events season 2 on March 30 on Netflix.
