Marvel’s ‘Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur’ Animated Series in Development

Joining the ranks of other Marvel animated series like Avengers Assemble, Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., and Spider-Man, Marvel Animation in association with Cinema Gypsy Productions will bring the comic book series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur to life on the small screen. The series will follow the adventures of Lunella Lafayette, an African-American 9-year old super genius, and her Dinosaur, a.k.a. Devil Dinosaur.

While the concept of Devil Dinosaur was introduced in 1978 by Jack Kirby himself along with the character Moon Boy, Lunella, a.k.a. Moon Girl, was recently introduced in early 2016 with the series Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur created by Amy Reeder and Brandon Montclare (Rocket Girl), along with Natacha Bustos.

The upcoming animated adaptation is still in early development stages and while the series will be available on a Disney network, it’s unclear whether it will be on The Disney Channel, Disney XD, etc. Laurence Fishburne and Helen Sugland (black-ish, grown-ish) will serve as series producers.

We’ll keep you up to date as more information about Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur rolls in. In the meantime, if you’re unfamiliar with the recent comic book series and would like to check it out it’s always available in print and digitally. It’s definitely worth the read.
