Netflix Releases New Trailer for David Ayer’s ‘Bright’

Netflix has released a brand new trailer for their upcoming original film, Bright. From Suicide Squad director David Ayer and Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency series creator Max Landis, Bright stars Will Smith and Joel Edgerton as two police officers in a crime-ridden Los Angeles. The twist is this film takes place in a world filled with mythical beings like Orcs, Elves, and Fairies. The film’s stakes are raised when Daryl (Smith) and his Orc partner Nick (Edgerton) discover an elf in possession of a magic wand.

Judging from the trailers we’ve seen, Bright looks like it could be a fun watch, and the style of the film bears resemblance to Ayer’s last directorial effort, Suicide Squad. This wouldn’t be the first time Ayer has worked on a crime-driven cop film either, having directed End of Watch and wrote the film Training Day. Writer Max Landis has had varied degrees of success currently serving as writer and creator of BBC America’s Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, as well as previously writing the screenplays for Victor Frankenstein, American Ultra, and Chronicle. Despite some less than positive reviews on some of these films, it’s safe to say Landis does have a unique and quirky style to his scripts that could benefit Bright‘s unique concept.

In addition to Will Smith and Joel Edgerton as the film’s leads, Bright also stars Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Lucy Fry (Vampire Academy), and Édgar Ramírez (The Girl on the Train), among others. Bright premieres on Netflix December 22. Check out the second official trailer for Bright below followed by the initial trailer released earlier this year in line with San Diego Comic Con.
