Natalie Cordova-Buckley to Become Series Regular on ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’

Excellent news for fans of superfast Inhuman Elena “Yo-Yo” Rodriguez: for the upcoming fifth season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Natalia Cordova-Buckley has been bumped up to series regular.

Deadline reports that executive producers Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen, and Jeffrey Bell praised Cordova-Buckley, saying,

Natalia is a powerhouse in her work and in her daily life, and she has imbued one of our favorite characters with her natural strength and humor. Natalia was instantly a part of the S.H.I.E.L.D. family the first day she walked onto set, and we’re happy she’s now an official member of the S.H.I.E.L.D. team.

This announcement came just before the Agents of SHIELD season 5 panel at New York Comic-Con, scheduled with all the core cast – including Cordova-Buckley, yay! – and Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb. Hopefully we can expect plenty more exciting news to come out of NYCC. This is definitely a promising start! I for one am looking forward to seeing more of Yo-Yo and Mack together in the coming season.

Agents of SHIELD will debut later this year on ABC.
