John Boyega Leads an Uprising in New Teaser for ‘Pacific Rim’ Sequel

Legendary Entertainment has released a brand new teaser for their upcoming sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 hit Pacific Rim. The sequel, entitled Pacific Rim: Uprising, is directed and co-written by Steven S. DeKnight, who is most recently known for bringing Marvel Studios’ Daredevil series into fruition, as well as previous television series including Smallville, Spartacus, and Angel. Uprising stars Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ John Boyega, Scott Eastwood (Fate of the Furious), Tian Jing (The Glory of Tang Dynasty), and Adria Arjona (Emerald City), and features the return of Pacific Rim star Rinku Kikuchi, as well as Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Burn Gorman (Jamestown).

Lining up in time with this year’s San Diego Comic Con, Legendary Entertainment’s newly released teaser for Pacific Rim: Uprising plays out as what could be an advertisement or propaganda in the world of Pacific Rim, convincing people to “Join the Jaeger Uprising.” The teaser shows a slew of new Jaegers not seen in the previous film and implies that Boyega’s character Jake Pentecost will be manning the now iconic Gipsy Danger, formerly piloted by Charlie Hunnam’s Raleigh Becket and Rinko Kikuchi’s Mako Mori.

Check out the brief teaser below and feel free to let us know what you think in the comments. Pacific Rim: Uprising is currently scheduled to release in theaters February 23, 2018.
