‘Watchmen’ TV Series in Development at HBO

Watchmen graphic novel

Nearly a decade after its last big screen adaptation, DC Comics’ Watchmen may be getting yet another take, this time as a television series.

While talks of a Watchmen TV series have been going on for some time now, it seems we are one step closer to this becoming true as Damon Lindelof may sign on as producer for a potential Watchmen series on HBO. in association with Warner Bros. Television. Lindelof is perhaps best known for serving as writer/producer on Lost, and most recently, the critically-acclaimed HBO series, The Leftovers.

HBO’s potential Watchmen series is still in very early development and no official deals have been signed, but considering the density of the comic itself, the property would be better suited for a television rather than a film adaptation.

Written by Alan Moore, with art by Dave Gibbons, Watchmen features a slew of compelling characters in a rich and unique world, which a TV series would have plenty of time to explore and flesh out before its conclusion. We’ll keep you posted as more news comes through on this potential series, but in the mean time feel free to let us know what you think about this project. Do you think Damon Lindelof is a solid enough name to take on Watchmen? Are you interested in seeing this property get another attempt on screen or are you content with director Zack Snyder’s take from 2009?
