Several new cast members have been added to the second season of A Series of Unfortunate Events.
According to a report by Deadline, Nathan Fillion (Castle, Firefly), Tony Hale (Veep, Arrested Development), Sara Rue (Impastor), Lucy Punch (Bad Teacher), and Roger Bart (Desperate Housewives) will be joining A Series of Unfortunate Events season 2. The casting news was announced by executive producer/ director Barry Sonnenfeld during the show’s panel at FYSee. So far, no details have been released about the characters they will be playing on the show.
A Series of Unfortunate Events stars Malina Weissman as Violet Baudelaire, Louis Hynes as Klaus Baudelaire, Presley Smith as Sunny Baudelaire, Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf, and Patrick Warburton as Lemony Snicket. Fans of Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog will be glad to see both Fillion and Harris in the same show once more.
A Series of Unfortunate Events is based on the thirteen-book series of the same name that chronicles the travails of the three Baudelaire orphans as they survive one catastrophe after another and try to stay one step ahead of the nefarious Count Olaf, a villain who is determined to get his hands on their fortune. The first season is an adaptation of the first four books in the series: The Bad Beginning, The Reptile Room, The Wide Window, and The Miserable Mill.
Production is underway for the second season, which will cover the next five books of the series: The Austere Academy, The Ersatz Elevator, The Vile Village, The Hostile Hospital, and The Carnivorous Carnival. The release date has not yet been announced. The show has already been renewed for a third and final season, which will conclude the series and cover the last four books.
