Watch the first trailer for Murder on the Orient Express

Murder on the Orient ExpressThe first trailer for the 2017 film adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express has been released.

Kenneth Branagh directs and stars (complete with a majestic mustache) as the iconic Belgian detective Hercule Poirot, a man tasked with solving the murder of a passenger on a luxury train ride across Europe. According to the Guardian, Murder on the Orient Express was most recently adapted in 2001 for a made-for-television film starring Alfred Molina. The 1934 novel was last on the big screen in Sidney Lumet’s 1974 film version which starred Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman, Richard Widmark, Sean Connery, John Gielgud, Vanessa Redgrave, Michael York, Jacqueline Bisset, and Anthony Perkins, with Albert Finney playing the role of Poirot.

This time around, the film still boasts of an all-star cast including Penelope Cruz, Willem Dafoe, Judi Dench, Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Daisy Ridley, Olivia Colman, Derek Jacobi, Leslie Odom Jr., Tom Bateman, and Josh Gad.

“You know there is something about a tangle of strangers pressed together for days with nothing in common but the need to go from one place to another and never see each other again,”

Poirot says in the trailer. “I see evil on this train,” he adds ominously, “A passenger has died.”

The camera pans over the faces of all the suspects while their occupations appear beside each cast member as they react to the grim news.

Here is the official synopsis of Murder on the Orient Express:

“What starts out as a lavish train ride through Europe quickly unfolds into one of the most stylish, suspenseful, and thrilling mysteries ever told.
