Check out Mr. World on the new American Gods clip

Starz has released a new clip from the upcoming episode of American Gods, introducing one of the powerful new gods, an enigmatic figure known as Mr. World (played by Crispin Glover).

It’s a brief glimpse of the character but it shows that he has a menacing presence that leaves no doubt as to the threat he represents to Shadow and Mr. Wednesday. He introduces himself to them in a strange but affecting manner. He will be making his first appearance on the show in the upcoming fifth episode.

Gizmodo provides a more detailed description of the character:

“Mr. World is the leader of the new gods that are on a collision course with the old-world celestials… In the 2001 novel, Mr. World is something of a non-descript yet omnipresent entity, able to go wherever he wants and fading from folks’ memories almost instantly.”

American Gods tells the story of ex-con Shadow Moon (played by Ricky Whittle) and Mr. Wednesday (played by Ian McShane) going a mythical road trip across America, as a storm brews between the old gods and the new gods, as both parties struggle to survive, nourished by people’s belief in them.

So far, American Gods has introduced several of the old gods such as Bilquis, Mr. Nancy, Mr. Ibis and Mr. Jackal, the Jin, Czernobog, the Zorya sisters, and Odin. Shadow already encountered the new gods Technical Boy and Media, and as the series progresses, more powerful figures will be making their appearances.

The show also stars Pablo Schreiber as Mad Sweeney, Yetide Badaki as Bilquis, Bruce Langley as Technical Boy, Orlando Jones as Anansi, Gillian Anderson as Media, Kristin Chenoweth as Easter, Jonathan Tucker as Low Key Lyesmith, Cloris Leachman as  Zorya Vechernyaya, Peter Stormare as  Czernobog, Chris Obi as Mr. Jacquel, Demore Barnes as Mr. Ibis, Corbin Bernsen as Vulcan, and Mousa Kraish as The Jin.
