Unsurprisingly, our favorite erstwhile paranormal investigators haven’t yet received any inside scoop on what we can expect to see in the upcoming 2018 season of the show. But both stars seem confident the many plotlines fans are still eager to see will be addressed.

Regarding the cliffhanger finale last year, where the fate of the human race was hanging in the balance, Anderson quips,

I think I was on the verge of saving the entire universe. [Series showrunner] Chris Carter has not told me yet whether I managed to save the human race. But given that we’re doing 10 episodes, one imagines that I save it for 10 episodes worth of time, maybe? Or maybe part of the human race? Well at least I’m still alive because I’m on it for 10 episodes.

Meanwhile, Duchovny states that he trusts Chris Carter’s instinct for the show and characters. That’s when the interviewer asks first Duchovny and then Anderson about the chances of a musical episode in this upcoming season. You’ll have to watch the video from E!News below for their responses! And then let us know what you think in the comments.
