American Gods renewed for Season 2

Two episodes into its first season and American Gods is already confirmed to return for a second.

Deadline reports that Starz has officially picked up the adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods for a second season. The current season will have eight episodes but the episode count for the next season has not yet been announced.

In a statement, Starz programming president Carmi Zlotnik said of the show:

“Bryan Fuller, Michael Green and Neil Gaiman have evolved the art form of television narratively, structurally and graphically with American Gods, and we’re thrilled to be working again with these artists as they continue to build the worlds and wars of the gods.”

FremantleMedia North America’s co-CEO Craig Cegielski added:

American Gods has been a ground-breaking series born out of belief and it’s thrilling to be partnered with Starz to continue this ambitious story…

Neil Gaiman, Bryan Fuller and Michael Green have ignited a conversation through cinematic magic, presented through a diverse ensemble of actors that continue to keep us engaged and inspired.”

The show chronicles the adventures of an ex-con named Shadow and the mysterious Mr. Wednesday as they take a road trip across America, a world where the old gods struggle for survival and the new gods want to take over. But a storm is brewing and all these powerful deities are about to clash.
