Starz has released a new clip from the upcoming episode of American Gods, showing a dangerous chess match between Shadow Moon and Czernobog (played by Peter Stormare).
The epic new series continues with Shadow (played by Ricky Whittle) and Mr. Wednesday (played by Ian McShane) meeting up with Czernobog, the Slavic god of darkness. The short scene features Czernobog challenging Shadow to a game of chess. He raises the stakes significantly so that if Shadow loses, the violent deity gets to bash his head in with a hammer. But if he wins, Czernobog will have to join Mr. Wednesday’s crusade to challenge the new gods.
American Gods tells the story of a mythical road trip across America, as a storm brews between the old gods and the new gods, as both parties struggle to survive, nourished by people’s belief in them.
The show also stars Pablo Schreiber as Mad Sweeney, Yetide Badaki as Bilquis, Bruce Langley as Technical Boy, Crispin Glover as Mr. World, Orlando Jones as Anansi, Gillian Anderson as Media, Kristin Chenoweth as Easter, Jonathan Tucker as Low Key Lyesmith, Cloris Leachman as Zorya Vechernyaya, Peter Stormare as Czernobog, Chris Obi as Mr. Jacquel, Demore Barnes as Mr. Ibis, Corbin Bernsen as Vulcan, and Mousa Kraish as The Jin.
