Thanks to Entertainment Weekly we have our first look at the Royal Family from Marvel’s upcoming Inhumans tv series. Set to hit both IMAX theaters and ABC in September. Take a look.

From left to right: Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Ken Leung as Karnak, Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Serinda Swan as Medusa, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, and Iwan Rheon as Maximus.
It’s great, except what is that monstrosity on Medusa’s (Serinda Swan) head? Good lord, that’s a terrible wig. We can only hope it’s better in action? Considering her power is that her hair is prehensile, we’re assuming it’ll be largely digital, and this wig is just a placeholder for the photo. We just wish they’d found a better one.
As for the rest of the crew, the look is very reminiscent of their appearances in the comics, which should make fans happy.
For those who don’t know, here’s the official synopsis of the series:
“After the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii where their surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them may prove to not only save them, but Earth itself.”
While existing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe alongside Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which is the property where Inhumans were first introduced into the MCU, and feature so heavily, there’s no indication that there will be any kind of crossover between the two properties. In fact, Marvel Television have emphasized the fact that Inhumans will stand on its own.
Inhumans two part premiere will be shown on IMAX screens on September 1st, with the series to air in its 8 episode entirety on ABC in the fall.
