Josh Brolin Cast as Cable in ‘Deadpool’ Sequel

Josh Brolin is Cable

After being teased in the post-credits scene in 2016’s Deadpool, the upcoming sequel has found its Cable. Josh Brolin has been cast as Nathan Summers, a.k.a. Cable, alongside Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson/Deadpool in the upcoming David Leitch directed sequel.

This wouldn’t be the first comic book property Brolin has been attached to, having starred in 2014’s Sin City: A Dame To Kill For and the critically-panned Jonah Hex in 2010. Brolin is also still set to play the super villain Thanos in Marvel Studios’ upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, having already briefly portrayed the character in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Co-Created by Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld, Nathan Summers made his first appearance as Cable in 1990’s New Mutants #87. In the comics Cable is the adult son of Scott Summers, a.k.a. Cyclops, from a possible future timeline. Whether or not Deadpool 2 will stay true to this attribute of the character is uncertain, though judging from a recent teaser for the sequel which was shown ahead of Logan in theaters (see below), his name Nathan Summers will remain the same.

As of right now there is no official release date for Deadpool 2, though it is expected to release in theaters in 2018. We’ll keep you up to date as more news come through, but in the meantime feel free to let us know what you think about this latest casting choice.
