In a recent interview with the showrunners of HBO’s Westworld, some interesting tidbits were shared about the timeline of the second season.
Entertainment Weekly managed to get some statements from Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan regarding the way the second season is set up.
Joy told EW:
“You’re definitely going to see the aftermath and the effects of what happened.”
Nolan added:
“We’re definitely not picking up right where we left off.”
According to an analysis on ScreenRant, this means it’s possible that the second season may be exploring the events of the first from the guests’ perspective, portraying the same or similar sequence of events but as experienced by the humans visiting the park and not by the Westworld staff or the hosts who had begun gaining sentience.
This would be an intriguing approach and would add some depth to the already elaborately woven story. And it would also be an opportunity to answer some of the previous season’s loose threads.
Some limited information has been released about the next season of Westworld. Louis Herthum was recently promoted to series regular and Talulah Riley is reported to be playing a larger role as well.
Westworld season 2 will air in 2018 on HBO.
