Eva Green to star in live-action Dumbo

Eva GreenFrench actress Eva Green is set to star in Disney’s live-action adaptation of Dumbo, which will be directed by Tim Burton.

According to a report by Deadline, Green (Casino Royale, Penny Dreadful) is currently in talks to play one of the three adult lead roles in the film, which is based on the 1941 Disney animated classic about a circus elephant with unusually large ears. Green is reported to be playing a trapeze artist in the circus where Dumbo lives.

Green most recently worked with Burton on Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. She also starred in his adaptation of Dark Shadows.

Dumbo is only one of the many planned live-action adaptation of Disney animated films. Recent ones include last year’s The Jungle Book and Pete’s Dragon as well as 2015’s Cinderella and Maleficent. Tim Burton even directed 2010’s Alice in Wonderland.

The next highly-anticipated adaptation is Beauty and the Beast (starring Emma Watson) which will be released on March 17, 2017.
