Welcome to Britbox – Watching British TV in the US just got easier

They’ve been teasing us for years, and now it’s finally a reality.

Today, in a joint partnership, BBC Worldwide and ITV have introduced Britbox.com – a streaming service for British Television. For $6.99 a month users will have access to some of the best of British television. Classics like the 80s Sherlock Holmes, starring Jeremy Brett, Miss Marple, and Inspector Morse. Beloved comedies Absolutely Fabulous and Fawlty Towers.

The service also boasts that episodes of new series will premiere on Britbox.com as little as 24 hours after original airing in the UK. It will feature the U.S. season premieres of favorites Cold Feet, and Silent Witness, and the series premieres of new dramas New Blood, and Tutankhamun.

If you’re a big fan of British soaps, you’re also in luck. EastEndersEmmerdaleHolby City, and Casualty will all be available to stream shortly after they air in the UK for the first time.

Britbox launches with over 2000 hours of television available for a $6.99 monthly subscription fee, and we’re promised new content will be added daily. New users can try the service for 2 weeks, and at launch Britbox will work on web, Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, and Android mobile phones. We’re promised that Roku and Chromecast support will be added soon.

As an admitted Anglophile, this is thrilling. There’s been talk of a service like this for years, but the US Cable & Satellite providers desperately tried to kill it by threatening to drop BBC America from their services. Glad BBC Worldwide and ITV finally found a way to make it happen.

Sign up for Britbox.com today! And have fun figuring out what you’re going to watch first.
