A vague release date and a tantalizing teaser have been revealed for the upcoming season of Game of Thrones.
We all know that season 7 will be the penultimate season of the epic drama, but the wait for Game of Thrones grows more and more tense. As previously reported, the shortened season will be airing a little later than usual this year and it seems that we now have a release date.
In an interview The Independent, Liam Cunningham, who plays Ser Davos Seaworth, revealed that the show might air in July. He said:
“I’ve been disappointing various people around the world because it was meant to come out in April. It’s July now, I think. There’s going to be a launch and something special happening this year for the premiere. The bad news is, there will only be seven episodes and the final season starts again as far as I know in September.”
A tiny teaser for Game of Thrones season 7 has also been released. It’s basically a few seconds of video showing someone wielding the sword named Oathkeeper, one of the rare blades forged in Valyrian Steel. Who wields the weapon is anyone’s guess, and there are so many characters to choose from.
Not much to go on but we will take what we can get, especially since the season will have three episodes less than the usual count.
With so much story left to cover in Westeros, it’s going to be impressive for the Game of Thrones writers to wrap everything up in two more seasons. But this is the beginning of the end.
So don’t miss the seventh season of the Seven Kingdoms sometime in July.
