The new trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales gives us a glimpse of why Captain Salazar is hell-bent on taking his revenge on Captain Jack Sparrow.
The clip shows how the relentless Captain Salazar (played by Javier Bardem) chases a young Jack Sparrow (is that a CGI-enhanced Johnny Depp?) into the Devil’s Triangle. The ensuing catastrophe leaves Salazar’s crew dead and he transforms, in that supernatural way of the Pirates of the Caribbean series, into an enraged ghost (not unlike Davy Jones from the previous films).
According to Entertainment Weekly, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will be about how the legendary pirate captain tries to survive Salazar’s fury by seeking out the mystical artifact called the Trident of Poseidon. In this latest quest, he enlists the help of a young astronomer named Carina Smyth (played by Kaya Scodelario) and a sailor in the Royal Navy named Henry (Brenton Thwaites.)
The film also stars Geoffrey Rush, reprising his role as Captain Hector Barbossa, from the previous films. Orlando Bloom will also be making an appearance as Will Turner. The trailer hints that this will be the final chapter of the series but it looks like it will be a truly epic conclusion to the pirate saga.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will premiere on May 26, 2017.
