The latest video released for Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast features the handsome Gaston, the villain of the piece.
Luke Evans (Bard from The Hobbit trilogy) looks every bit the part of the dashing but shallow Gaston, Belle’s persistent suitor. He only gets one line in the short clip, an excerpt of the song “Gaston” from the original animated film, but it’s clear that Evans’ making the most of his musical talent.
Most of the clip is sung by LeFou (played by Josh Gad, the voice behind Olaf from Frozen) who is clearly having a lot of fun as he extols the virtues of his master while prancing around a brightly-lit tavern full of villagers. So far the song has the same lyrics as its animated counterpart but the film will reportedly have some additional musical material composed by Alan Menken himself.
As previously reported, Beauty and the Beast stars Emma Watson (Harry Potter) as Belle and Dan Stevens (Legion) as the Beast, Kevin Kline (The Road to El Dorado) as Maurice, and features the voices of Ian McKellen (Lord of the Rings, X-Men) as Cogsworth, Ewan McGregor (Star Wars) as Lumiere, Emma Thompson (Sense and Sensibility) as Mrs. Potts, and Gugu Mbatha Raw (Belle) as Plumette.
Only a couple of weeks left until Beauty and the Beast premieres on March 17, 2017.
