Marvel Unveils New Trailer for ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’

Epic new poster!

After releasing a brief teaser this past Monday, February 27th, Marvel Studios has now unveiled the second full trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Set to the tune of “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac, the trailer promises plenty of action and humor to come out of the upcoming follow-up to Marvel’s 2014 hit film. Here’s the official synopsis of the film as provided by IMDb:

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

In addition to showing off some impressive visuals and solidifying Yondu’s and Nebula’s new roles as team members, we get a glimpse at the film’s antagonist, Ayesha, played by Elizabeth Debicki (The Night Manager). The trailer also concludes with our first look at Kurt Russell as Peter Quill’s father, Ego the Living Planet. Unlike his comic book counterpart, Ego is portrayed in human form, though it hasn’t been revealed if he will appear as he does in the comics, which is basically a giant purple planet with a face on it.

Directed by James Gunn and starring returning actors Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Dave Bautista, and Michael Rooker, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is set to release in theaters May 5, 2017. Check out the full trailer below.
