Starz has announced the official premiere date for its television adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods.
The first season of the series will air on April 30, 2017.
American Gods follows the fascinating adventures of an ex-con named Shadow Moon (played by Ricky Whittle) who becomes embroiled in a conflict between powerful deities after he becomes the bodyguard to the enigmatic Mr. Wednesday (played by Deadwood‘s Ian McShane). The show is based on the award-winning novel by Neil Gaiman.
As previously reported, American Gods also stars Gillian Anderson (Hannibal, The Fall) as Media, Sean Harris (The Borgias, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) as Mad Sweeney, Yetide Badaki (Aquarius, Masters of Sex) as Bilquis, Bruce Langley (Deadly Waters) as Technical Boy, Crispin Glover (Back to the Future) as Mr. World, Jonathan Tucker (Kingdom) as Low Key Lyesmith, Cloris Leachman (Malcolm in The Middle, Raising Hope) as Zorya Vechernyaya, Peter Stormare (Fargo, Prison Break) as Czernobog, Chris Obi (Snow White and the Huntsman, The Counselor) as Anubis, Mousa Kraish (Superbad, Fast & Furious) as The Jinn, Orlando Jones (Sleepy Hollow) as Mr. Nancy, Jeremy Davies (Justified) as Jesus, and Demore Barnes (12 Monkeys) as Mr. Ibis.
Starz also released some new key art for the series, according to IGN, giving us a better glimpse at the colorful cast of characters of the show.
