20th Century Fox Releases 5-Minute Prologue for ‘Alien: Covenant’

Alien: Covenant, the 6th installment of the Alien film franchise not including the Alien vs. Predator films, is set to release in theaters May 19, 2017. Directed by Ridley Scott, who directed the 1979’s Alien, Covenant serves as a follow-up to Scott’s last installment, Prometheus. While it’s unclear where exactly Convenant falls in the series’ timeline, it’s rumored to take place after Prometheus, but before Alien.

20th Century Fox released the first official trailer for Covenant back in December 2016, and now they’ve released a 5-minute prologue which gives us a brief look at the cast of characters in the upcoming film. Entitled “Last Supper” and directed by Ridley Scott’s son Luke Scott, the prologue is described as follows:

Set aboard the Covenant, a colonization ship on its way to a remote planet to form a new human settlement, the main crew (all couples) and their android, Walter, enjoy their final meal together before cryosleep.

Judging from the footage there seems to be a lot of love and admiration between the characters, but also some contempt between others. Billy Crudup’s character doesn’t come off as the most likable person, and Katherine Waterson’s character Daniels seems to take some issue with him. Michael Fassbender’s Walter, an android like David from Prometheus, seems trustworthy but judging from previous Alien films there’s no way to tell what his intentions truly are.
