Darren Criss cast as Music Meister on The Flash and Supergirl

CW’s DC Universe just gave fans a whole new reason to be gleeful. Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist, who have already been confirmed as singing in the musical crossover announced earlier this season, will be welcoming Darren Criss to the fold in March.

The Glee star will be playing the first live action of the Music Meister, according to TVLine. He was rumored to be the villain for the musical episode from the moment it was suggested, and Darren Criss has been suggested for the role by Glee fans for the last few months. First introduced on an episode of the Batman: The Brave and the Bold and voiced by Neil Patrick Harris, the Music Meister uses song to bend others to his will. Whether his powers will work in the same way on The Flash and Supergirl remains to be seen.

In his interview with TVLine, executive producer Andrew Kresiberg noted, “With our Flash and our Supergirl being Glee alums, how could we not have them go up against another Glee favorite like Darren Criss?” Of course, both Grant Gustin and Melissa Benoist interacted with Darren Criss during their time on Glee, but the musical will be the first time all three are together. Will fans rejoice to see some of their favorites on screen at one, or will they reject the outcome? We’ll have to find out in two months!

The Flash‘s musical episode will air on March 20th, and the title is “Duets.” While Supergirl‘s episode the day before will only contain one scene relating to the musical, Melissa Benoist and Jeremy Jordan will be singing on The Flash. They are joined by David Harewood and Chris Wood, who will appear without lending their musical voices. Grant Gustin, Darren Criss, Jesse L. Martin, and Carlos Valdes will also sing in the episode – along with Victor Garber and John Barrowman to round out the talent.
