Injustice 2, the sequel to NetherRealm Studios’ hit 2013 fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us, is set to release this May. Featuring a slew of new and returning DC Comics characters including Superman, Batman, Supergirl, Deadshot, Blue Beetle, and Gorilla Grodd just to name a few, the upcoming fighting game takes place five years after the events of Gods Among Us. As evident by the game’s newly released trailer, the evil Superman of this universe seems to have escaped the cell in which he was imprisoned at the conclusion of the last game.
Additionally, we are treated to what seems to be a monologue from Superman villain Braniac, who we can imagine will have some hand in the upcoming conflict between heroes. The trailer, which only features cinematics and no gameplay, concludes with a tease of the Justice League villain Darkseid promised as a pre-order exclusive playable character. Check it out.
Injustice 2 is set to release on Playstation 4 and Xbox One consoles May 16, 2017. A mobile tie-in game is also stated to be in development for iOS and Android devices.
